"ON-LINE" SONGWRITER CHAT SESSION

Our Purpose

Welcome to our fifth season of the "On Line" Songwriter Chat Session.  Our purpose is to offer a format where songwriters can interact and connect with each other.  We encourage participants to ask questions and offer their input on various aspects of songwriting...with hope that we can all learn some meaningful things in the process that will broaden our knowledge of songwriting and help hone our individual songwriting skills.  It doesn't matter if you are a seasoned songwriter, a novice, or someone who just wants to listen in, everyone is welcome!  Each month we are planning to have a "special guest" songwriter who will share their own thoughts and observations on songwriting with all of us.  We hope you will join us for the upcoming songwriter chat sessions and pass the word along to your friends and fellow songwriters.

Songwriter Chat Room Rules

1.      Please make sure that when you are participating in the chat to give everyone the opportunity to be part of it.  If one person dominates the conversation, it makes others feel they should just watch.  We'd like everyone to be included and participate.  We ask that you apply the same rules of etiquette and common courtesy during the songwriter chats as you would for a jam at a bluegrass festival.

2.      Some of our guest songwriters are on major record labels and we need to be careful asking questions they are not able to answer.  Some information is confidential, and if we put them on the spot, it might create an awkwardness and make them feel uncomfortable which is not fair to them.

3.      The songwriter chats are not intended to be a format for pitching songs to our guest songwriter(s).  This is something that should be done outside of the chat room.

Join us tonight, February 26th at 8 p.m. for a chat with Grammy winner Carl Jackson.
Described by Bluegrass Unlimited  as "Bluegrass Music's MVP" for his
ability to do it all -- sing, write, play many instruments, produce -- Carl is a
recent inductee into SPGMA's Hall Of Greats.  His list of album credits is too
numerous to list, and his number of cuts is almost as long.  Carl has penned songs
in the country field for the likes of Vince Gill, Garth Brooks, Ricky Skaggs, Glen
Campbell, Patty Loveless, and many more.  A recent BU list of the top 200 charted
bluegrass songs includes eight by Carl Jackson.  Doyle Lawson, IIIrd Tyme Out, The
Rice Brothers, Mountain Heart, and Rhonda Vincent are just a few bluegrass greats
who have recorded his songs.  Join us to chat with the legendary Bluegrass MVP,
Carl Jackson.
